The second-hand shopping app has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes but did not contact every member regarding the update. Digital Channels Response Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification. The company said the revised method more closely matches similar services. They have suggested members to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, which has left users frustrated. Measurement Approach Changes Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Another user, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she stated. Manual Updates Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item". "Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she said. Service Background The app has more than 100 million users, with 18 million British users. It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: last year, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
